- I was pleased to see your report on "The Greening of
- Hollywood" (SHOW BUSINESS, June 12), which addressed the
- involvement of celebrities in various environmental issues. The
- U.S. Department of the Interior is the lead agency for Take
- Pride in America, which sponsors the environmental announcements
- by the TV character ALF. Certainly, as "landlord" of more than
- 500 million acres of public land, I know the enormous problems
- associated with careless use and intentional abuse of our
- resources. We must use these treasures prudently and pass them
- unspoiled to our children and grandchildren. The Take Pride in
- America campaign stresses voluntarism and education. We can all
- help in some way, and each of us can make a difference.
